Updating the Site
If you’re reading this on an iPhone: run over to the nearest computer, kick whoever is on it the fuck off, and log on to Minor Speculum. You’ll either be pleasantly surprised, or pissed off.
Yes indeed. I changed her once again. In case you forgot, here’s a little look at the old site. If you’re feeling particularly nostalgic, I understand. You’re used to the old site. You want it back. You’ve signed up for AARP and you’re excited about that. You forgot where you were. But the fact is, you really do love the new look. You love it a lot.
Anyway, I was going for a little more of a modern layout, far from the old design. I had always intended to do this when I started the site back up, and now was the right time. Let me know if it sucks or not.

Thanks. I was hoping this fit the site a little better. Now I need to contribute something again.

Thanks again man, this had been stewing for a bit.
On posting: you’re welcome. I’d been neglecting my blogging duties.

you are too busy with mikemattner.com
ps. i like the fonts also.
Mike • 2 years ago
I started the design with the logo, and tried to use that typeface throughout the site.
Mikemattner.com is visited by outsiders as often as this site is.

its a good fucking typeface
Mike • 2 years ago
Indeed it is.

to anyone who has seen the banner that reads “having a witty blog proves nothing” (if you haven’t seen it go back to the home page and hit refresh until you do):
it should read:
“having a witty blog doesn’t mean people will actually comment on it, much less read it.”
we seem to have both problems.
i’m not going to lie, i’ve had people tell me they read it but do not comment – i want to know why this is. do we suck? is there something we are doing wrong? there is a sizable amount of content. plenty to discuss. half the fun of this blog, especially in the earlier days, were the comments. even the fake stuff was better than nothing. at least a dialogue was started.
is there something we’re not doing that you, the reader, would like to see? please let us know

The stats would indicate that this is the case. Plenty of visitors. Just nothing to say. Indeed, what would get you talking?
Michelle • 2 years ago
Hey, at least if you do have visitors, they are not going to comment and talk down on things you post, or misunderstand all that is said. I seem to have that problem. Maybe y’all are just more well-spoken.

happy anniversary guys

Thanks Larry. A lot of comments. Not a lot said? Larry, I’m going to turn your comment into a post.
larry • 2 years ago
thanks man i’m glad you thought it was important. i really hope it makes a difference. i know everyone is busy but if you, the reader, have time to read it you have time to comment. maybe you don’t like the same music, tell me it sucks i don’t care. this shit costs money. i mean i thought that when everybody wanted it back so bad that things would be different.
I personally am going to make it a goal to try and comment more even if what i have to say is dumb or even if i don’t quite understand something.
