Which was probably not December 25th at all. But you can thank the Catholic Church and John Chrysostom for the date.
No one knows for sure, but at least it has been pinned down to September to April. So really, we could wish Merry Christmas from early fall to mid spring. Hurray!
Oh, and I am not knocking Jesus, because I believe he was the son of God and he was born and crucified, and rose again. However, I am not convinced that he was born on December 25th. Please spend some time reading about the history of the Catholic Church and its affects on modern Christianity, the Bible, and our religious holidays.
I want to clarify my previous statement: Christ was born on Christmas Day, although it is not the day we recognize. I know Dan Brown didn’t invent the myth but he brought it to the public eye in a big way in Angels & Demons. Good movie. Great book.
I did not think you were mocking Jesus. I know as a fellow Christian Jared you believe the same as I do. The Power of God is right here, that we are able to have this conversation right now.
I guess I was being sarcastic earlier when I said what I said. I was just trying to draw
focus to the fact that Christmas was originally in celbration of Jesus’s birth. A fact that seems to have been forgoton.
Mike – I don’t mean to upset you with the Jew thing. One love bro.
I’m going with the nearer to April date of birth. Perhaps April 1st? Was it the greatest April fools joke ever told?
As a man of history, I have a tough time believing in the validity of either Judaism or Christianity, considering the extreme dilution in Babylon and add that to the effects of Rome on Christianity as well as the dictates of men and you have something that no longer resembles itself.
Regarding angels and demons. The book was much better than the movie. The movie was an amalgamation of scenes that made sense in the context of the book, but sure as hell was t-u-f-f to follow in movie form if you’d never read it.
Anyway, the Christ Mass is a celebration of the winter solstice. Dan Brown did not make this knowledge popular, though I truly believe he wrote the bible.
Interesting that you claim that Dan Brown wrote the bible. I know you just are kidding but in my new book “Fallen Angels (& Demons)” I explore the idea that Dan Brown in fact is one of the Knights Templar himself and/or possibly a blood relative of Christ, which is why the Knights haven’t tried to silence him. Writer’s write their ideal world right? It makes sense.
I just want to say that I’m glad that the site is back up. mIke it looks great.
I will be doing a reading at the Barnes and Nobel’s in KZOO sometime in the near future, maybe we can discuss this in person. Anyone who wants to come is welcome. God Bless you all. Stayed tuned for more on that.

That is a myth invented by Dan Brown. You can read all about it in my new book in which I expose the truth.

Expand your historical perspective friend. This “myth” has been around for centuries.

Mike – as a Jew and a man of history, what is your take on it?

And now, let me say, the videos actually mentioned in this post were uh, humorous enough, but they’re no Dan Brown.
