What Does It All Mean?
Continuing in the tradition of writing headlines with question marks, I’ve decided to let you all in on the secret of the website, which is quickly becoming the 3,698,475,934,569th most hit website on the net. Congrats gang.
So, what the name means in Latin is small mirrors. Following my philosophical theory of every human just being a mirror, we just cast reflections of one another. Small is who we are, overall, some of us from the small town of Hartford, others have moved away but ultimately we’re all just tiny pieces in an enormous puzzle. So, small mirrors. Voila.
Anyway.
What the site will eventually (and when I say eventually I mean a few weeks) have are six essential parts. First and foremost is the nostalgia section, which will have the first ever Dallas Watson Tracker where our spies in the North will track every move this magnificent creature makes and report it to us. Next will be Philosophy by ChrisCo. Yes our old one line wonder is at it again with a weekly update chock full of quotes to live by. And last and most important there will be selected events posted weekly about old parties, certain games, social events, you name it, and we’ll all be contributing some conversation thread about that event all week. If you have a good suggestion for the first one, just comment on this post and we’ll get crackin on that.
Next will be a sports section. Still trying to figure this one out totally as I type. I’m thinking something to do with gambling but I’m contemplating the legal issues of that as of now. I definitely want to have some sort of predictions where we can all predict games and we’ll keep a running track of our records. This section will also contain games of the week and updated standings for each league. The standings will probably be a link to ESPN or something.
Continuing on with the ever popular Humor section where there will be links and posted clips with funny things attached to them like people getting kicked in the face. There will also be a monthly fiction written by myself. It will be about 4-6 pages and I promise you will enjoy it and if you don’t I’ll refund your site registration fee!
Next will be the Entertainment section. Our staff will do movie and music reviews, leave links to songs and give suggestions on some media. As with all the sections, all suggestions are welcome. I remember Ismael Mendoza always used to use movie lines and it was the funniest thing. So I dedicate this section to him, wherever he is.
Moving right along to my favorite subject to write on, Politics. As with the Katrina article, we will be updating about current events and politics with a little-bit-a-wit on the side. Simply put, we’ll write about the times and make as many sarcastic comments about our President as possible.
I thought about having a religion section but then I thought about it again. Not that I’m against religion, I’m not, just don’t want people getting offended.
The last section will be the title section where we will feature special events, videos, highlights, whatever is really catching our pesky, rather short, attention span at the moment.
It’s going to be great everyone. I’m telling you. Picture a manipulated photo of Dallas in an orange hunting suit next to a headline of ‘Dallas Caught Hunting Swans.’ I mean what’s not to like about that? Minor Speculum is a site where you can kick back, read the current events, get a little advice, and then catch up with old classmates.
Spread the word to whomever you please and if you see anyone by chance that you haven’t saw and probably won’t see in the near future, let them know about this site. It’s also going to be flashier soon so don’t worry about how bland it is currently. Finally, would anyone be interested in a mailing list? If not, cool.
